While the Kiwanis Club operates as a vibrant social club that fosters fellowship, is the civic and operational core of the organization. mobilizes members to execute hands-on community project, and drives much of the active fundraising. Its associated Foundation serves as the dedicated philanthropic branch. Structured as a 501(c)(3) charitable entity, the Foundation secures tax-deductible donations, manages long-term funds. and distribute those resources.

Your donation to the Madison West Kiwanis Foundation provides support for the many programs and projects we fund to help children and families in need in the Madison area. Madison West Kiwanis Foundation is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Capitol Christmas Pageant
The Capitol Christmas Pageant started in 1923 and has been held every year. In 1982, Madison West Kiwanis was asked to assume the responsibility for keeping Madison's Christmas Pageant performances going.
Staging is assembled by the club members. Additionally club publicizes the event, coordinates the high school music directors and funds the entire enterprise.
To support this pageant, the Madison West Kiwanis Foundation receives contributions each year. The annual cost is usually between $4,000 to $5,000.

Ethel Allen Ski Scholarship
A multi-year scholarship program with Adaptive Sports Association (ASA). The funds are to be used exclusively for scholarships for Madison area residents with disabilities to participate in ASA programming. Award recipients travel to the Durango Mountain Resort in Colorado. A mountain atmosphere, friendly people, and an exciting, life-changing experience will be part of a six-day, all-expense paid trip. The scholarship provides an opportunity for adults with physical disabilities to rediscover their potential, successfully meet and overcome challenges, learn and enjoy a new sport, travel, and make new friends. The scholarship funds as many as four people from the greater Madison area to learn to ski under the careful direction of the ASA ski instructors at Durango.
Ahlgren/Golden K Scholarships
Candidates for the Henry Ahlgren Humanitarian Scholarship should have made significant contributions to their school community as well as to their neighborhood and city communities. They should be good students with strong leadership records. They should have a record of participation in extracurricular activities and be good citizens of their school and their community. A $2,000 Henry L. Ahlgren Humanitarian Scholarship will be awarded to the Madison area student who best exemplifies these characteristics.
David P. Dickson Scholarships
Scholarships have been available to students in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), UW-Madison, whose major field of study is in the agricultural and food sciences broadly defined. (Agricultural and Applied Economics, Animal & Dairy Sciences, Biological Systems Engineering, Entomology, Food Science, Life Sciences Communications, Nutritional Science & Dietetics, Plant & Agroecosystem Sciences, Plant Pathology, Soil & Environmental Sciences). Up to five scholarships will be awarded at $2,200 each for a givent academic year. The scholarship awards may change in future years.
Joseff Endle Music Scholarship
Annually one student from each of the five Madison High Schools is selected for $500 scholarship. The scholarship provides support to attend a summer music camp between their junior and senior years in high school. A music high teacher is asked to identify a student from their school to be a recipient of the scholarship.
Ernie Rothe Memorial Leadership Scholarships: Edgewood Key Club, West Key Club, and Edgewood Circle K
The leadership scholarship will be awarded annually to one Key Club member from Madison West High School, one Key Club member Madison Edgewood High Edgewood, one College Circle K Club member who has exemplified to the highest degree, the basic principles of Kiwanis family caring and sharing in their home, school, and community. The recipient will be of high moral character and should have achieved excellence in all their endeavors.
Community Grants
Madison West Kiwanis Community and Youth Services grants are awarded annually to local non-profit organizations to help the youth and disadvantaged in our community. Each grant application must be a local non-profit. Grants are evaluated and awarded annually. Most successful grant awards have ranged from $1,000 to $3,000.

Each spring, every West Madison Middle School is asked to identify one 8th grade student who exemplifies the service ideals of Kiwanis. There are no academic requirements. These students are invited to join us at a luncheon, with their parents and a school administrator, so they can be thanked for all the good they do. Students receive a monetary award, a framed certificate of accomplishment and a opportunity to participate in the Key Leader program next fall.
